The public is invited to the launch of Zuleikha Mayat’s new book, Journeys of Binte Batuti, on June 13 at Museum Africa, Newtown. The launch is being hosted in partnership with the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation.

Renown for her bestselling Indian Delights recipe series, Mayat’s new book is a melting pot of cultural and global experiences from as far as Russia, to Tashkent and Bukhara, Afghanistan and Nigeria - all topped with a tantalising combination of rich recipes.

Commenting on the book, the Foundation’s Director, Neeshan Balton said, “Beyond a cook book, Journeys of Binte Batuti is a wonderful narrative of history and different cultures across the world.”

A political and cultural activist, and former journalist, Mayat’s latest offering brings together a host of global encounters.

At 89 years old, she is the founder of the Women’s Cultural Group based in Durban.
